It’s really still making me do double takes. Roger not in a swoosh. Roger minus “his” RF logo. Or is it NIKE logo? We are guessing NIKE? Time? Money?
Wouldn’t it have been designed by the Nike staff. Roger might have had some say in the final design choices. ️Maybe?
But it’s so short sighted of Nike. Do they really see tennis dying? Was it because so many of their superstars have been off court for months/years with injuries or babies or wrist surgery?
Roger shortened his seasons as did Rafa, Maria was banned, SERENA had a bundle of joy baby and others were out with injuries such as Delpo.
Roger Federer was a brand global ambassador for life. Whether he hits a tennis ball or not. ADIDAS knew Stan Smith and Rod Laver were a golden relationship that they’ve nurtured.
And Fila knew Bjorn Borg was Golden. They recently signed both he and his son Robin! How could Nike let the big fish go? How? Why?
We heard Nike put the Roger clothes on sale? Really. Seems like there’s more value in every piece of Nike|RF attire – hats, shirts, clothes, kit ensembles – than before.
I still expect to wake up and see it was all a joke. But it’s not April. It’s The Championships!
Editors Note: Tony, now I get why my asking questions about hats and shoes was unsettling to you in March. Nope. I wasn’t snooping or scooping. I was just shooting the breeze to see what combos of hat colors or shoes were faves. Mine? Easy. RF blue. It’s similar to Carroll Shelby Cobra Blue. [Knew nothing of deals or contracts] (LJ)
