Tennis • 10sBalls Reviews The Worst Injury Of 2017 – Bethanie Mattek-Sands
- Updated: December 23, 2017

Truly appreciating every moment on court because it can all change in an instant… – Photo by @matteksands via Instagram.
What a year. The worst tennis injury of 2017 was at WIMBLEDON.
It actually was the worst we ever saw. BETHANIE Mattek-Sands • Half of the worlds number one doubles teams. She and Lucie Safarova formed “Team Bucie”… Bethanie’s knee collapsed while she was playing singles against the beautiful and talented SORANA Cirstea.
I’m certain they heard Bethanie’s screams all over the village of WIMBLEDON at least to St. Mary’s Church and all the way to Southfields and back.
Lucie was playing her own singles on the other side of the field courts when she folded at hearing about Beth’s injury.
The good news. Bethanie is on her way back. She is now “Bionic.” She has worked so hard it’s really remarkable. We are all thrilled for Team Bucie.
But there’s a bigger lesson here besides Beth’s grit. Passion. And dedication. Oh I forgot. She is also one of tennis greatest athletes.
It’s that she’s a girl from the Midwest of America and her best friend in the whole world is from the Czech Republic.
Via tennis we have common ground. The world may lack common sense. But thru tennis we might come closer to understanding each other.
Weekly on the ATP and WTA tennis your you see doubles teams comprised of every country on earth. You had the team of a Pakistani and an Indian.
And a Belarusian and a Canadian and 40 other partners. Yes, Max Mirnyi and all the tourneys he won with players from everywhere. This year he might show up with a partner from Mars…
Reunited and it feels so good! Five-time Grand Slam doubles champions @matteksands and Lucie Safarova caught up for a week of training (and fun) in Scottsdale. – Photo by @usta via Instagram.
