Juan Martin del Potro has been forced to withdraw from the Fever-Tree Championships at The Queen’s Club because of a right knee injury.
The second seed from Argentina defeated Denis Shapovalov 7-5, 6-4 in the first round today, but after post-match assessment and treatment, informed tournament organisers that he would need to pull out.
“It is a great shame that Juan Martin has been forced to withdraw because of injury,” said Tournament Director, Stephen Farrow. “The crowd loves him here, just as they do all over the world, and we know how much he wanted to make a run here at the Fever-Tree Championships. We wish him a full and speedy recovery, and hope to see him back here next year.”
Feliciano Lopez, who defeated Marton Fucsovics 6-7, 6-3, 6-4 receives a walkover into the quarterfinals.
