MONIQUE ADAMCZAK AND STORM SANDERS PLAY WIMBLEDON 2017 • WRITTEN BY MONIQUE
- Updated: July 5, 2017

A story of redemption – To anyone out there who has been knocked down repeatedly…
To anyone who has ever been told they weren’t good enough…
To anyone who has thought things might not ever get better. This is for you…
We are two female Australian athletes of contrasting ages but both with a string of injuries, health and personal struggles through our careers. Our goal at the start of June was to qualify for Wimbledon and in the process We have both achieved our childhood dream…
Storm was Ranked 199 on the W.T.A. Tour • I was Ranked 164, We both had just come back from (extensive) successive time off due to injuries, personal struggles, and health issues.
We initially entered into Croatia on clay and in the last minute Storm decided we should play on grass starting with Surbiton. We saw the contrasting draws in Croatia and Surbiton and for a second regretted the decision.
But We Won Surbiton – so We sat down and decided We could play Wimbledon qualifying now, but not together as our combined rankings wouldn’t get us in.
Then We won Nottingham and thought We might not get into Wimbledon qualifying. So We wrote a letter to the AELTC to request a wildcard on the basis of phenomenal back to back Grass court victories.
We also decided to look for different partners to have a chance to get in. But both partners decided not to play with us.
We got denied a Wimbledon Main Draw Doubles W.C. (Wildcard) We’re both used to setbacks and being knocked down. We weren’t deterred. So We entered Wimbledon Qualifying together. We won both matches to qualify for the Main Draw.
We Realised A CHILDHOOD DREAM • And the best is yet to come…
This story was a “Gift” to Lovey and 10sBalls.. It was written from the heart by Monique Adamczak. 10sBalls Loves stories like this. Such amazing grit these two ladies have endured. We applaud them and all of their hard work and determination and efforts, and we thank them for sharing their feelings. We hope they continue to win (LJ)
