Tennis: FILA Spring Summer 2019 at Milan Fashion Week
- Updated: October 6, 2018
The starting point for FILA’s first fashion show was a profound exploration of the essence of the brand. Milan was chosen to emphasize the brand’s Italian origins, which have never been forgotten. Antonino Ingrasciotta and Josef Graesel, creative directors, have reinterpreted in a contemporary key the FILA archives, housed in the museum dedicated to the brand born in Biella in 1911.
The brand’s genuine sportswear identity is expressed in a new aesthetic language that combines sport and fashion. It is the result of the careful pinpointing of the key moments of FILA’s history, characterized by iconic pieces that, over time, have shaped a very precise style.
On display were pieces that combine performance, power, evocativeness, and a clear and contemporary aesthetic outlook. Evident throughout the collection is homage to tennis – the typical pleating of tennis skirts, the windowpane print of the FILA polo shirt, and more.
So, he typical pleating of tennis skirts is found in a long chiffon skirt that plays with proportions and is either paired with combed fleece, or Lycra in an asymmetric bodysuit, or a technical jacket in sail cloth.
Masculine pieces have inspired extremely feminine clothing: the typical one-piece tracksuit of the 1980s becomes a seductive bodysuit.
Navy, White, Red: color is a statement that belongs to the brand’s DNA, paying tribute to the iconic F-BOX.
The check of the FILA polo shirt, an inescapable reference to the Wimbledon courts, becomes a key pattern, found in tailoring and outerwear in a play of super-impositions and combinations.
The popular heritage trainers – the historic T-1 and Euro Jogger – have been reissued to become the perfect finishing touches for the FILA SS19 total look. The legendary Disruptor is presented in a boot version in flight knit.
