Ilya Ivashka defeats Mikael Ymer in 56 minutes in the Winston-Salem final to win his first ATP Tour title.
Ilya Ivashka, the World No. 63 become the first Belarusian to win a trophy at this level since Max Mirnyi in 2003.
Top seed Elina Svitolina battled through two arduous sets to overcome Alizé Cornet and clinch the inaugural Chicago Women’s Open title, the 16th WTA singles title of her career.
“It’s never easy to play against Alize because she’s a great fighter, she puts a lot of balls back, and when it’s conditions like this, you’re not only playing against your opponent, you’re also playing against the conditions.”
Second seed Anett Kontaveit snapped a five-match losing streak in WTA finals to lift her second trophy at Tennis in the Land with a straight-sets defeat of Irina-Camelia Begu.
“I was really having a good time, I was really happy that the crowd was back, and I was feeling more comfortable on the court match by match.”
