Roger Federer was playing at The 2018 WIMBLEDON Quarterfinals also known as the Round of 16.
But not on “His” court. If he was seeded third, fourth, or fifth. Ok. Then and only then maybe he should play on the beautiful court one.
But if he is Roger Federer the “King” of SLAMS, the King of Grass, and the unofficial “King of WIMBLEDON” why isn’t he playing on Center Court or Centre Court? You know the main court. Whatever you call it. He has owned it for a long time. He has earned the Privilege of playing on that so comfy and familiar setting. You know where he gets to walk from the dressing room (locker room) thru The All England Club. Passing his photos. Thru the doors • onto his court.
Court One is a fave of mine globally. One of the best stadiums in the world. If not the best. But it’s big. Not between the lines in the area surrounding the court .
Guys can out angle R.F.
And it’s not his familiar setting. Where’s Mirka sitting? where is Lynette & Robbie, Severin, Tony? Roger didn’t need a five setter today. He used up precious energy.
He had a match point in the third set. Yes, he lost to Kevin Anderson.
But that’s how the ball bounced. Funny one HAWKEYE was literally a blade of grass between in | out on a baseline call.
Ok. This is messed up I didn’t want to “jinx” it yesterday when I saw the schedule known in tennis as the order of play came out.
Some call it OOP. (Order Of Play) Today I call it “OOPS”. Get it.. Oops like somebody did a big oops. Ok..
Like was it really Justin Timberlake sitting in the Royal Box minus a tie? Did I see that? ️Maybe it was the Pimm’s? But I thought I saw that • Didn’t they turn Lewis Hamilton away for wearing jeans one year?
Too say it was too close for comfort is putting it mildly. He was unlucky to come so close with a match point in the third set. Roger Federer lost 2-6, 6-7, 7-5, 6-4, 13-11.
Editors note: Sad to see the “OOPS“
Even though Roger didn’t get to walk thru his doors to his backyard court. He has never needed Kiplings words from “IF” that are above that door more •
“If you can meet with triumph and disaster and treat those two imposters the same.”
