Singles – Semifinal: (1) T Berdych def. (7) P Kohlschreiber 6-3 6-4

Each of the sets of this was settled by a single break, but it didn’t really seem that close — Tomas Berdych was never broken. He won’t rise above his current #7, but he does block Philipp Kohlschreiber’s return to the Top Thirty.

Singles – Semifinal: (3) G Monfils def. (2) G Simon 4-6 7-6(7-4) 6-4

Gilles Simon managed to get this back on serve in the final set, and even had a match point, only to be broken in the last game of the two hour, 25 minute contest. It could be a costly loss. If Gael Monfils can win the final, he will overtake Simon to earn the #12 ranking.

Doubles – Semifinal: Mahut/Roger-Vasselin def. Huey/Skupski 6-2 6-2

And so the French have players to cheer in both the singles and doubles finals. A stacked field can really help….
