Today’s US Open crowd had two fashion must-haves – something to cover their heads and protect their eyes!

I had the privilege of sitting amongst the tennis greats and USTA royalty In the President’s Box today, which is like going to tennis heaven. You are invited to a delicious formal gourmet meal, you mingle with the past tennis greats and the top USTA executives and enjoy clever stories about their glamorous lives in the game.

For an added treat they hand out Kaminsky straw hats for the women and white fedoras trimmed with a black band for the gentlemen. It is a great tradition! The hats in this box behind the potted red flowers create a picture of dignity and sophistication.
While these hats dress up the crowd on this windy day they also prove to be extremely functional! It is incredibly windy and the chill is in the air. Rather than have your hair lashing about, it is now held tight under the best looking chapeux around.

Walking around the campus of this great event one also finds many a tennis cap and visor to buy. The ‘RF’ hats to wear in support of Roger or the Bulls horn insignia for Rafa fans.

The USTA logo visors are a perfect gift! Or the costly, as are the Ralph Lauren caps. The cool and hip crowd had their ski caps and Elmer Fudd hunting hats on, all to warm the ears on what was a surprisingly cool day in Queen’s.
The sexy women ever-so concerned for their skin and eyes had the St. Tropez floppy brimmed hats on shading their Lady Gaga eyewear. Whether to keep warm, to shade eyes or just to look great, there were plenty of good reasons for caps, shades and visors today!
