What happens if it doesn’t fit?
The top players are fitted in their Wimbledon whites and ready to go today but some of the finest players are just now unpacking their new shorts, skirts and checking that every lace, snap, or hook & eye are in place. As this weeks outfit must be as tailored as a wedding dress or tux- I pose the question- what if the player is unsatisfied with what they are now putting on or worse yet- they become uncomfortable on the court? ( have you ever worn a new pair of tennis shoes to a match only to get blisters?) – the show must go on- or does it?
We all know these players get ” multiples” but do they all really fit exactly to spec?
If anyone saw Gael Monfits recent wardrobe malfunction – his shorts were slipping off his skinny hips affecting every stroke he chose. His shorts were simply too big!
After a few games,he had to rush into the locker room for some old shorts he had in his bag.
What if Venus pulled out her fringed, shorter-than- short dress and the armholes were too tight- She could barely reach for her serve?
What if Sahar thought she was wearing a dress and the skirt arrived instead? What if the elasticity on Bethanies’ knee socks wore out? What if K- Swiss for Mardy Fish, Sam Querrey and the Bryan Bros. turned out to be a K- miss?
Do the players, on this momentous occasion suck it up, do they call their sponsor and complain, or what is the solution here? Where are the stylists when you need them?
Lets raise our Pimms cocktails to sheer comfort for all these great players and that they are free of any wardrobe crisis’!!! Cheers to a jolly Wimbledon and wardrobe watching for all!
